Special Yuva Trains for Young generation
Yuva Trains to ensure low cost travelling for youth
In the Railway Budget 2009-10, Mamata Banerjee has announced new ‘Yuva Trains' dedicated specially for the young generation. These trains will provide air-conditioned seated accommodation. They will run between major cities with a distance ranging from 1000 km to 2500 km and will ensure that youth and low income groups can travel at low rates. The fare will be Rs. 299 for distances up to 1500 km and Rs. 399 for distances up to 2500 km.
Initially as a pilot service within three months, weekly trains will be introduced in Mumbai to Delhi and Delhi to Kolkata. If these trains were successful, Yuva Trains will be extended to other areas of the country.
